On June 26 2019 over 120 ACI members and guests gathered at UBS’ fantastic Auditorium at Broadgate to debate the rise and rise of automation, algos and AI in the trading room. This event kicked off with a keynote presentation “Are Robots Taking My Job?” by Mark Goodman, Head of Electronic Execution, UBS, followed by a cross-industry panel debate on the impact of increased ‘electronification’ on market liquidity, regulation and behaviour.
Stephen Hawking – “….there is no deep difference between what can be achieved by a biological brain and what can be achieved by a computer. It therefore follows that computers can, in theory, emulate human intelligence — and exceed it”
Moderated by industry ‘legend’ Gavin Wells, our panel included James O’Connor, Head of FX & MM Desk, Bank of England; Richard Turner, Senior Trader, Insight Investment; Nicolas Bader, GIC and Dr Pierre Vermaak, Executive Director, Strategic Development Lab, Quants, UBS.
ACI UK would like to thank our generous hosts, UBS, for their support for this fantastic industry event, as well as our speakers, panellists, members and guests for contributing to a memorial evening.
