At the ACI UK AGM held on July 19th 2017, Sue Attwood was elected to the position of President for the UK National Association.  As well as being a very popular decision in an industry in which Sue is very well known, Sue is also the first female to hold the position of President since ACI UK was created in 1956.

Sue Attwood  said “I am honoured have been elected to the role of President of ACI UK. This is an exciting and challenging time for ACI – as it is for everybody operating in today’s financial markets impacted by the Global Code, advent of MiFID II and other industry challenges. I am delighted to be part of an expanded Committee focused on driving ACI’s core agenda of promoting integrity and conduct through industry influence, education and membership.  I very much look forward to working with the Committee – and our global counterparts – to ensure that ACI continues to influence market behaviour and to support participants operating in all areas of financial markets”.

Comment from Colin Lambert, Profit & Loss, 24 July 2017:

This is short and very sweet today because I want to offer my heartfelt congratulations to Sue Attwood who made history last week by becoming the first female president of ACI UK. To give this some perspective, ACI UK was established in 1956 so to break the gender barrier after 61 years is something.

I have had cause to work with Sue over the years, especially on the Dealing Simulation Course and her passion for ACI’s core values of education and professionalism is indisputable. Overlay this with a fearsome talent for organisation and I feel safe to say that ACI UK is in the best of hands, because Sue is, without doubt, the hardest working ACI volunteer I have met.

It can only be good news for the UK association that that energy and organisational skill can be harnessed in a true leadership role and I wish her well in what will no doubt be a busy few years ahead.

Hopefully the rest of the ACI UK board will give their new president their total support and fully utilise the skill set and knowledge base of one of the more insightful, up-to-date and – please forgive me for this Sue – dedicated veterans of the FX industry…..yes, I know, I am probably going to pay for that!

All current Committee members were re-elected without opposition and four new Committee members were also elected to the Committee: John Estrada, Credit-Suisse; Vince O’Sullivan, GAIN GTX (previously Barclays plc); Andy Green, Hoare’s and Alex Gilmour, UBS.   (See https://aci-uk.com/committee/ for Committee member details/bios)

ACI UK is pleased to have the commitment and support of old and new Committee members and welcomes the fresh contribution from its expanded and enhanced Committee.

At the AGM, members also ratified ACI UK’s Financial Statement to the year ended 31 December 2016 (with no objections) and agreed to updates to the ACI-UK Constitution (again, with no objections).
